Austin Aries Claims He Hasn’t Signed a Contract w/ IMPACT Wrestling, World Title Rematch Announced

Eli Drake will get his rematch at the IMPACT World Championship on next week’s episode of IMPACT Wrestling, in what will be Austin Aries’ first defense of the belt. Aries made his surprise return to the promotion last week, challenging Drake to a match for the title, and stunning the wrestling world by picking up a victory in a matter of seconds!

What’s interesting is that Aries – likely in character, but we’re looking into it – during a staged press conference for this week’s show, claimed that he wasn’t actually signed to a contract with IMPACT Wrestling. He said that he was still a free agent and was traveling the world collecting titles. As noted, this is probably just a part of his character as he clearly has some sort of deal in place. It could also be a safeguard if they can’t get Aries to stay on with the promotion long-term.

Either way, check out the video below.
