The Premier League side confirmed they had approached Crystal Palace about the winger, who is also wanted by Arsenal, but once their offer – thought to be £52million – was turned down they left the negotiating table.

It was said the reported second offer included midfielder James McCarthy and £55m.

“Everton categorically denies bid has been submitted to Crystal Palace for Wilfried Zaha that included an increased sum plus Cenk Tosun and James McCarthy” a statement from the club said.

“Everton and Crystal Palace have very good relationship.

“A bid was made over weekend which was turned down. Both clubs agreed that was end of matter.”
