Tierney is currently ruled out the match after being instructed to quarantine for 14 days when Scotland teammate Stuart Armstrong tested positive for coronavirus while on international duty last week.

Ryan Christie was also ordered to self-isolate despite both him and Tierney returning negative tests and the pair insisting they complied with social-distancing guidelines.

But the Lothian Health Protection Team identified the two players – as well as two members of the Scotland backroom staff – as close contacts of Armstrong.

Tierney missed Scotland’s three fixtures and told Arsenal’s website he was ‘so disappointed and frustrated to be in this situation’ – with the 14-day period forcing him to miss Saturday’s trip to the Etihad to take on Man City – with full commentary of the 5:30pm kick-off LIVE on talkSPORT!

However, Arsenal made it clear they were going to hold discussions with the relevant parties concerning Tierney’s requirement to self-isolate with the aim of freeing him up to feature against Pep Guardiola’s side.
