Poch, who remains out of work since being sacked by Spurs last November, is being linked with a move to St James’ Park to become Newcastle’s manager once the Saudi-led takeover of the club is complete.

The Magpies look set to become the wealthiest club in the Premier League once Mike Ashley sells to the Saudi Public Investment Fund in a £300m deal.

The prospective owners have a net worth of a reported £260BILLION, while the current wealthiest owner in the division is Man City’s Sheikh Mansour – worth a paltry £23.3bn in comparison.

The Saudi PIF have ambitions to fire Newcastle to the top of domestic and European football, and replacing incumbent boss Steve Bruce with a new manager will be near the top of their in-tray.

A host of big names have been linked with the Magpies, including Massimiliano Allegri, Jorge Jesus and even ex-Newcastle chief Rafa Benitez.

However, the favourite to become Newcastle’s next head coach is former Spurs boss Pochettino – and Cundy believes he is the ‘perfect’ option.
